Our Remineralizing Cleanser is built around nano-hydroxyapatite, the mineral your enamel is made of. It’s our first product, with a rinse and gum serum on the way.

We started with toothpaste because it’s the product you use on your teeth every single day.

Your enamel is about 96% mineral, and almost all of that mineral is hydroxyapatite.

Nano-hydroxyapatite is the same mineral in much smaller particles. As you brush, those particles can settle into worn areas on the surface of your teeth.

That’s what remineralizing means. You’re putting mineral back where it’s been lost.

Most toothpaste is made to clean the surface of your teeth. Salo does that too, while also putting mineral back into your enamel.

We made the formula with the same standards we look for in good skincare. It’s low-abrasion, SLS-free, peroxide-free, and there’s no harsh mint burn.

Dr. Salo created Salo for the patients she treats every day, including people with veneers, bonding, and other cosmetic dental work.

Fluoride and hydroxyapatite work differently. Fluoride helps harden enamel. Hydroxyapatite gives back the mineral enamel is made of.

We chose hydroxyapatite for Salo because we wanted remineralization at the center of the formula. Dr. Salo still recommends fluoride for some patients, depending on their needs.

Salo contains 10% nano-hydroxyapatite.

In an 18-month study of 189 adults, toothpaste with 10% hydroxyapatite was compared head-to-head with fluoride toothpaste and held its own.

Yes.

Nano-hydroxyapatite is the same mineral your teeth are made of, just at a smaller particle size.

In 2023, the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety reviewed nano-hydroxyapatite and found it safe in toothpaste at concentrations up to 10%. That’s the concentration we use.

Salo has fourteen ingredients, and every one has a job.

The key ingredient is 10% nano-hydroxyapatite. The formula is made without fluoride, SLS, peroxide, artificial colors or artificial sweeteners.

Salo contains no animal-derived ingredients and is never tested on animals.

Lightweight and creamy, with a soft foam and a balanced spearmint finish.

It tastes fresh without the icy burn. After you brush, your mouth feels clean without feeling stripped.

We wanted brushing to feel good enough that you actually look forward to doing it twice a day.

Salo uses a gentle, coconut-derived cleanser instead of SLS, so the foam is softer than you might be used to.

SLS is what creates the big foam in many toothpastes. It can also irritate gums and dry the mouth.

Less foam doesn’t mean less clean. It just means we chose a gentler way to get there.

Brush with a generous pea-sized amount for two minutes, morning and night.

Spit when you’re done, but don’t rinse. Leaving Salo on your teeth gives the mineral more time to work.

Think of it like leaving a serum on your skin instead of washing it straight off.

It started with a simple idea. If she was going to recommend something to the people whose teeth she cared for, she wanted to feel completely good about what was in it and how it felt to use.

Salo is made in the USA in small batches and third-party tested.

Salo is formulated to help reduce sensitivity by putting mineral back into the surface of your teeth.

For many people, sensitivity is the difference between enjoying something cold and bracing for it. That’s one of the reasons remineralization matters to us.

If your sensitivity is severe or came on suddenly, see your dentist. Sometimes sensitivity is a sign of something that needs treatment.

Yes. We made Salo with cosmetic dental work in mind.

It’s low-abrasion and peroxide-free, and can be used with veneers, crowns, fillings, bonding, aligners, braces and permanent retainers.

Dr. Salo works with this kind of dental work every day, so protecting it was part of the brief from the beginning.

If you’re unsure about your specific dental work, ask your dentist.

Salo was made for adults.

It’s fluoride-free, so there’s no fluoride to worry about if a little gets swallowed while brushing. There’s also only one Salo formula.

For children, we recommend asking your dentist. Kids’ teeth have different needs, and their dentist knows them best.

A little swallowed while brushing isn’t a fluoride concern because Salo contains no fluoride.

Like any toothpaste, Salo is meant to be spit out rather than swallowed.

If a child swallows a large amount of any toothpaste, call your doctor.

Salo is made without fluoride, SLS or peroxide.

If you’re pregnant or nursing and being especially thoughtful about what you use every day, we understand. Check with your doctor or dentist if you have any questions about what’s right for you.

Salo contains spearmint oil and menthol. You can find the full ingredient list on the product page.

If you know you’re sensitive to any ingredient, check with your dentist before using it.

If you have a reaction, stop using Salo and email us. We take every report seriously.

Keep Salo away from pets.

It contains xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Store the tube out of reach and never let a pet lick it.

Shipping is a flat $6.95 per order within the United States via USPS.

Orders ship within three business days. Most arrive two to five business days after that.

We’ll email you tracking as soon as your order ships so you know when to expect it.

Pickup is free from Salo Manhattan Beach at 1151 N Sepulveda Blvd during practice opening hours. Just bring your order confirmation.

You can order Salo at drsalo.com and have it shipped to you or pick it up locally.

You can also buy it in person at Salo Manhattan Beach, where Dr. Salo first started sharing it with her own patients.

If you’re trying Salo for the first time and it’s not for you, tell us.

Email us within 30 days of delivery and let us know what didn’t work. We’ll refund your tube even if you’ve opened it.

We want you to actually try it before deciding whether it belongs in your routine.

If something arrives damaged, incorrect or missing, email us within 14 days with a photo. We’ll replace it or refund it.

For later orders, unopened products can be refunded within 30 days. Opened products aren’t refundable for hygiene reasons.

Refunds go back to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days.
